8 jewelry events in March

Looks like spring will come quicker than usually in Montreal. Isn’t it fun? Means that very soon the jewelry won’t be hidden under hundred layers of coats and scarves and will shine in all its awesomness. As always, I am here with the list of the monthly jewelry events for March.

1) (4 mar) White Night at the Jewelry School of Montreal

Location: l’École de joaillerie de Montréal, 416 boul. de Maisonneuve O.

March 4, 20.30 – 2.00

Did you ever want to see how the backstage of the jewelry craft looks like? The Jewelry School of Montreal (l’École de joaillerie de Montréal) will open its doors during the 14th edition of Nuit blanche of the festival MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE. During the event the guests will visit the school and its worksops, as well, as the exhibition of the recent creations of the students. You can also buy the creation you like and thus help to finance the final exhibition of the graduates.

All night long the students will be showing their craft in action and creating rings, passing through all the stages from the raw material to polishing the ready piece.


2) (23 sep-9 apr) Fréquence bleu

Location: Bonsecours Market, 350 St-Paul Street East, Old Montreal

Until April 9.

Fréquence bleu (Blue Spectrum) is an immersion in the colour blue and its many shades, as seen through clothing and accessories made from 1900 to the present day. From sky blue to navy blue, the colour’s wide spectrum never ceases to inspire fashion designers the world over, to the delight of generation after generation.

This exhibition features pieces by international designers such as Christian Dior, Balmain and Comme des garçons, as well as pieces by young graduates and current students of Montreal’s fashion, textile, jewellery and leather-working schools.


3) (18 mar) Design market de la Paroisse

Location: 425 rue Beaubien est

March 18, 10.00 – 17.00

Creative market with various vendors, among them jewelry.


4) (2 feb – 26 mar) Le Labo – international exhibition of contemporary jewelry

Location: 802, rue des Ursulines, Trois-Rivières

February 2 – March 26

1 hour away from Montreal – is it a distance for a jewelry lover?

La Galerie d’EMA presents the international exhibition of contemporary jewelry Le LABO. A group of 16 jewelry artists, graduates of the Jewelry schools of Montreal and Quebec have been exhibiting for almost 5 years in many countries the fruit of their creative research during the workshops at Noël Guyomarc’h, the gallery of contemporary jewelry in Montreal.

The exhibition is curated by Noël Guyomarc’h and the director of École de Joaillerie au Québec de Montréal, Mr Stéphane Blackburn. The organizers, as well, as the artists will take part in the vernissage to talk about their art and style.

Participants: Anne-Marie Rébillard, Annie Loiseau, Catherine Granche, Catherine Sheedy, Emilie Dell’Anniello, Émilie Trudel, Gabrielle Desmarais, Isabelle Métivier, Karine Rodrigue, Katia Martel, Lidia Raymond, Magali Thibault Gobeil, Mariane Séguin, Marie-Maude Brunet, Nazanin Rostami et Véronique Roy.



5) (11 mar) Artisan Market

Location: Turbo Haus, 5011 rue Notre Dame Ouest

Creative market with various vendors, among them jewelry.


6) (12 mar) Conference with Émilie Leblanc Kromberg

Location: Musée d’art de Joliette, 145 rue du Père-Wilfrid-Corbeil, Joliette, QC

Again, the thing is not really in Montreal. In case if you want to visit a new place or sumply live in that corner. Émilie Leblanc Kromberg, the jeweler and the winner of the Prix métiers d’art des Grands Prix Desjardins de la culture de Lanaudière will share her creative experience and secrets of the ancient japanese technique Mokume-gane which she uses and explored during her trip to Japan. The technique dates back to the 17th century and was used to create katanas, the swords of samurai.


7) (30 mar) Printemps numérique x 5 à 9 au McCord

Location: McCord Museum, 690, rue Sherbrooke ouest

March 30, 17.00 – 00.00

The opening fashion event of Digital Spring to present the new exhibition “Mode Expo’67”. A lot of fashion activities at the edge of technologies (3D scan stations, fashion mapping, interactive experiences, meetings with designers, etc.

Among other things you will be able to try the smart PixMob Klik bracelet, which allows to interact with space and people around you. Yep, that is why this event got in my jewelry section! Btw, the price is $16 ($20 at the door) and you will get your own bracelet, as well.


8) (feb 11 – mar 4) Big sale of the Fluxx Bijoux
